Meet your doctor

Hi, I'm Dr Dhivian. Let's find the real cause.

Dr Dhivian, Family Physician and Founder of Angsana Medical
Dr Dhivian
MBBS · MMed (Family Medicine) · NUS

I founded Angsana Medical because I wanted to practise family medicine the way it should be done. Longer consultations. The same doctor across every visit. A proper conversation about what's actually going on. Most pain that lasts more than a couple of weeks has a cause that can be identified and treated. The point of seeing me is to find it.

My training spans polyclinics, private GP practice, NUH Children's Urgent Care, emergency departments and hospital wards. I also serve as an Adjunct Tutor for the College of Family Physicians Singapore (GDFM and MMed Family Medicine programmes).

What you have been dealing with

You do not have to convince me the pain is real.

I see the same handful of stories in this clinic almost every week. If any of these are yours, you are in the right place.

The painkiller rotation

You have been to three GPs already. Each one told you to take Panadol, maybe added an anti inflammatory, told you to rest, and sent you out the door in eight minutes. The pain came back. Nobody actually examined the joint properly.

The pain that wakes you at three

I know what it is like to lie in bed dreading the moment you have to turn over because that one position has become impossible. Pain that wakes you up usually has a cause that can be identified. It is not normal. It is not something you should be living with.

The five minute visit

You have sat across from a doctor who scrolled through your file for two minutes, made eye contact maybe once, and handed you a prescription. You left without understanding what was wrong or why. The next prescription does not solve that problem either.

The quiet worry that this is permanent

Every week you leave the pain untreated, the part of your brain that catastrophises gets louder. Is this my knee for life now? Will I still be able to play with my kids in five years? Most chronic pain looks much worse from the inside than it actually is. Most of it is treatable.

The quiet avoidance

You have been quietly cancelling on the gym, on weekend hikes, on kneeling to play with your children. Friends notice but you brush it off. The version of you that was active feels further away every month.

The productivity drain

Pain does not sit politely in the background. It dulls concentration, frays patience, eats into sleep, and turns into snappier responses to people who do not deserve them. You can feel your work and your relationships paying a quiet tax.

Why patients trust Dr Dhivian

Conditions we treat

If the pain has lasted more than two weeks, it's worth assessing.

Pain that nags through your day, and especially pain that wakes you at night, usually has a cause that can be identified and treated. We commonly see and manage:

Knee

Knee pain & injections

Osteoarthritis, meniscal pain, stiffness after an injury. Therapeutic knee injections offered after assessment.

Back

Back pain

Mechanical lower back pain, persistent strain, postural pain in professionals who sit at a desk all day.

Foot & Heel

Plantar fasciitis & heel pain

Stubborn heel pain that's worst in the morning. Stretching, footwear advice, and shockwave therapy where suitable.

Elbow

Tennis elbow & tendon pain

Lateral epicondylitis and overuse tendinopathy. Conservative management plus injection options if needed.

Hand

Trigger finger

Catching, locking or pain in a finger. Steroid injection is often effective when caught early.

Shoulder & Joints

Shoulder & joint pain

Frozen shoulder, rotator cuff strain, joint inflammation. Assessment first, then targeted treatment.

How we treat pain

Four things we do, in the right order.

01

Diagnose first, treat second

We don't reach for a needle on day one. A careful physical assessment, plus imaging when needed, comes before any procedure. You'll know what's wrong and why.

02

Therapeutic injections

Steroid, hyaluronic acid or intramuscular injections, administered when clinically appropriate. Knee, shoulder, trigger finger and tendon injections are routinely performed in our clinic.

03

Focused shockwave therapy

A noninvasive option for stubborn tendon and heel pain such as plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow and Achilles tendinopathy. Several short sessions over a few weeks.

04

Onward referrals where needed

If you need physiotherapy, orthopaedic input or imaging, we arrange it through our trusted network. No bouncing around.

We stick to clinically proven options. Injections with clear indications. Shockwave therapy where it has been shown to help. No gimmicks.

Quiet, private, calm

A relaxed clinic setting at Everton Park. No crowded queues, no rushed feeling. You can speak openly about what's been bothering you.

Common questions

What patients usually want to know

Do I need a referral?

No referral is needed. You can book directly with us as a private patient. We'll do a full assessment and refer onward only if needed.

How much does a consultation cost?

Consultation fees depend on the complexity of the assessment and any procedures performed on the day. We'll explain costs clearly before anything is done. Many medical conditions are claimable under Medisave for selected procedures and chronic management.

Are injections painful?

Most patients tolerate them well. We use small needles, local anaesthetic where appropriate, and explain each step beforehand. Discomfort is usually brief.

How many shockwave sessions will I need?

Most patients have three to six sessions spaced about a week apart. The doctor will tailor the plan to your condition and response.

Do you offer teleconsult for pain?

We can do an initial teleconsult for history taking and triage. Physical examination and any procedures need to be done at the clinic.

Where are you located?

1 Everton Park, Level 1 Unit 39, Singapore 081001. A short walk from Outram Park, Maxwell and Tanjong Pagar MRT.
